Foreign nationals who wish to enter the United States are required to obtain a visa. Depending on the circumstances, the foreign traveler may wish to apply for a nonimmigrant visa for temporary stay, or an immigrant visa for permanent residence.
The Visitor Visa is a nonimmigrant visa for persons desiring to enter the United States temporarily for business or personal reasons. Foreign national wishing to travel to the U.S. for a different purpose (see below) should apply for a different visa
in the appropriate category.
Treaty Investor:
Purpose - visit U.S. to develop and direct a bona fide enterprise.
Intra Company Transfer:
Purpose - international companies commonly use as method to effect foreign employee visits to the U.S. for temporary work assignments.
Alien Entrepreneur:
Purpose - establish or expand business operations in the U.S.
Artists:
Applicants are required to be "prominent", "leading", or "well known" in the arts.
Entertainers:
Includes individual entertainers, duos, groups, and backup entertainers.
A student visa is a temporary visa for the entire period of study.
To be eligible for a student visa, the applicant must be accepted by a U.S. school and prove that enough funds are available to undertake studies in the United States without working for the entire period of study.
Student visa applicants should be prepared to provide the following documents:
- Letter of admission.
- Financial documents, such as bank statements.
- Documentation to show how your entire education will be funded.
- Evidence to prove that you intend to return to your home.
Fiancee:
Purpose - legal entry into the U.S. if entrant intends to marry U.S. citizen.
Relatives:
Purpose - unrestricted or conditional entry to U.S.
Marriage:
Purpose - aliens marrying U.S. citizens qualify for green card.
Labor Certification:
Purpose - establish permanent residency for foreign workers.

Alien Entrepreneur:
Purpose - establish or expand business operations in the U.S.

In order to participate in the Green Card Lottery through this site, AIS needs to receive a signed application form, a recent photograph, and the required processing fee of $__. Once we have received your form, photo, and check (no cash please), AIS can complete the application process for you and monitor its progress.
